Finding a College and Program with Finances in Mind

Another way to reduce the overall cost of a four-year degree is to spend the first two at a community college, with much lower tuition cost and additional grant and aid options available. As long as you plan your curriculum carefully to ensure that your community college courses transfer to your chosen university and the degree program you are planning, this can be a great way to reduce overall costs, especially if you can go to a community college close to home and maybe stay with your parents. In fact, completing a two-year associate's degree at a community college first secures a degree, even if you should find later that you have to delay for bachelor's program.

In fact, more and more community colleges offer bachelor's degrees, often in conjunction with local universities.

Yet another way to save money is to select a program that offers some or all onlinecourses. While the course tuition will be the same as for on-campus courses, you save on commuting, housing, ... But you need to have a good computer infrastructure and be mature and disciplined to succeed in a rigorous online program.
