Too often, prospective students make the wrong decisions, for one or more of the following reasons:
- Haste: once decided, they want to move quickly, excited about the prospect of college studies. The first few weeks - the Honeymoon Phase - is fun, new, enjoyable, and then reality sets in: "Do I really want to be a Medical Billing Specialist for the rest of my life?!"
- Sales pressure: at private colleges, students are subject to persuasive sales pitches that sometimes convince them to pursue a course of study without giving the consequences enough thought.
- Friends and family: students often pick degree programs recommended by others, instead of pursuing what they love or at which they excel - this leads to dissatisfaction sooner or later
It is best to pick a school, course of study, and even delivery method (e.g. online, on-campus) that suits you, your needs, and that you can commit to passionately for the duration of your studies.
