Additional education is of great value, not just in these poor economic times, but also in boom times. You will develop new skills and talents that will make you more marketable. In turn, you can command a higher salary and improved benefits while doing more interesting work in as better environment.
While an associate's degree is a great way to get back into the student groove, if possible, you should at least pursue a bachelor's degree, if you have not yet done so.
